Your future responsibilities
We are looking for a motivated student to join our team for an internship in photonics characterization. The main focus of the internship is to study and measure waveguides and nanostructured photonic devices at the wafer level. As an intern, you will take part in different tasks such as measuring photonic devices, analyzing data, and working closely with experienced researchers. You will also have the chance to learn and contribute to the development of new photonic technologies.

Your tasks will include:
  • Conducting characterization of nanostructured photonics, utilizing tools such as optical microscopes and SEM.
  • Performing photonic characterization involving waveguides and integrated photonic components.
  • Post-processing and analyzing data to derive meaningful insights.
  • Summarizing research findings and presenting them in internal reports and discussions.
  • Contributing feedback to design and fabrication processes.
Your profile
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physics, electrical engineering, materials science, or photonics at a university in the EU.
  • Basic knowledge of optics and photonics with hands-on experience in lab characterization, laser, and photonic setups.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, especially Python.
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to tackle technical and scientific challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for Employees in Non-University Research (Research Collective Agreement Section 19). The monthly gross salary for this position is €1,415.00.
