Your Leadership responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of 8–10 researchers within the Embedded Artificial Intelligence group of the Intelligent Wireless Systems Division.
  • Work with team members to define and shape the research agenda and strategic direction.
  • Effectively coordinate and allocate resources to ensure the team's success.
  • Foster an environment of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence.
Your Scientific responsibilities
Research & Collaboration
  • Acquire and manage research projects in partnership with leading academic and industrial stakeholders.
  • Contribute your technical expertise to guide team projects and contribute to research activities.
  • Support the team in producing high-quality scientific outputs that have a measurable academic and economic impact.
  • Supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students, promoting their professional development.
  • Represent the group through publications, conference presentations and participation in international consortia and scientific committees.
Your profile
  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, signal processing, and/or intelligent sensor systems.
  • At least 5 years of experience in applied research or R&D, ideally involving both academia and industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading research teams or cross-functional project groups.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, support, and inspire early-career researchers.
  • Comfortable in multicultural, interdisciplinary environments.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of German is a plus.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) in occupational group G (G1 salary = EUR 5.546, paid 14 times a year). Your actual salary depends on your experience and qualifications. We offer a gross salary in the range between EUR 85.000 to EUR 120.000 (annual, based on an All-in contract and bonus).

Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) is a top research center for Electronics and Software Based Systems (ESBS). At three locations (Graz, Villach, Linz), SAL is conducting research along the entire ESBS value chain in the areas of sensor systems, power electronics, intelligent wireless systems, microsystems and embedded systems to develop future-oriented solutions for industrial production, health, energy, mobility, safety and more.
