Are you fascinated by photonic integrated circuit (PIC) and eager to contribute to cutting-edge research?
 
Bringing together applied science and industry, Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) conducts cutting-edge research in Sensor Systems, Microsystems, Intelligent Wireless Systems, Power Electronics, and Embedded Systems. As part of our Integrated Photonics Technologies (IPT) research unit, we are looking for a motivated Master’s student for an exciting Master Thesis focusing on characterization of PICs.
  • Simulation, assembling and testing of optical setups for photonic integrated circuit (PIC) characterization
  • Sample characterization in the photonics lab and cross-checking with the simulation
  • Automation of the measurement setup
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
  • Contribute to software and hardware development to enhance experimental capabilities
Your profile
  • Enrolled master student (university in EU) in a related technical field
  • Solid background in physics, optics or photonics 
  • Familiar with ray tracing simulation tools, ideally including Zemax OpticStudio
  • Familiar with Python programming language 
  • Knowledge of Fourier optics is considered an advantage
  • Motivation to tackle challenges and contribute ideas within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent English communication skills (German proficiency is a plus)

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA).  For this position, we offer a monthly gross salary of EUR 1.929, paid 14 times a year.
